If you are using a 2014 macbook air you likely have a down-clocked dual core i5 4250U chip and 4gb or ram using onboard intel 5000 graphics. The macOS Big Sur was recognizing the remote.It was Dolphin that was unable to capture the buttons until I mapped it TLDR Steam would recognize the PowerA wireless, and wired GameCube remotes, all steam games would work that supported a controller. T his gave me a work around controller support.
